What a pisser. Seriously.
Man,
We got a call Thursday to come into the builders and finish our selections on the house. Fabulous, fun and stressful in EVERY way. So we show up we start going through the available items and quite frankly some things I was very happy with...while others I WAS NOT. The design of our home leaves us to have only a hanging light over the front door because our porch goes straight up to the roof and past the second floor. So you would guess right if you guessed that all the light fixtures that we had to order for that entrance and hallway were not part of the selection so we had to pay extra for them. Well so far...we are up to about 500$ in extras when you include the fact that we didn't want the cheap-a$$ed bronze or gold knobs, and that some of the light fixtures gave us NO OTHER CHOICE. We haven't figured out how much extra it will be to have an electric stove over a gas one although we've told them in plenty of time to keep them from having to pay the extra to have it wired for electricity, that will remain to be seen. Now when we first got there, they told us that we have a small problem. Our brick won't come in until the end of September and that will delay construction. WEEEEELLLLL, this is the kind of hangup hubby and I have been wanting so rather than picking out a new brick, we told them we'd really like to keep our selection. We are waiting to see if they will go for that. I mean we want that brick and we really only like two other selections that they have. One is just like a house built next to us so that is a no-go. The other is a tan color brick rather than the dark red/brown that we picked. I didn't want orange, and that seems to be the choices that they have left. So we asked if we had the option to wait until our brick comes in because we are in NO hurry. We still have to sell our house and it might bet better for us to put it on the market in October than in September.
So we finish after an hour of dulling over selections and we decide to ride out to the house. Low and behold guess what we find? They are installing the WRONG WINDOWS. I mean come on! Completely wrong from the word go. We had requested black plantation windows and they are putting in regular white windows. *sigh*.
So now I have to wait to hear from the builder on whether we can wait for the brick that we fell in love with or if we have to make it our second choice. So if we have to make it our second choice, I suppose the windows being installed would be alright seeing how we picked out the black ones to match the brick.
I have more grey hair this morning and I feel like pulling it out!
ttfn,
mons
